Allow His Peace
...let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts
(Col 3:15)
Jesus said, "Peace I leave with you; my
peace I give to you." (John 14:27) We are called to allow his peace rule in our
hearts. That word 'rule' means to umpire or as we might say to 'call the
shots'. We are to allow his peace to guide us.
Dear believer, is not
Christ in you your certain hope and security? At times we may not feel his
presence, but you have his peace. We need to stop and trust him to help us. We
cannot demand it, force it, or deserve it. Jesus said, "My peace I give to
you." His peace is yours. Let it rule in your heart. As we surrender our hearts
to him we find our rest.
The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about
anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let
your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all
understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Phi
4:6-7) Let's pray.
Lord Jesus, thank you for your peace. Forgive us
for striving to work things out and find our own way. Help us to surrender our
struggles and anxieties to you. Thank you for your present help that we may let
go and let your peace rule in our hearts. Amen.
You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind
is stayed on you; because he trusts in you. (Isa 26:3)
